Dr. Carolyn Lederman-Barotz married into the Hen Island community. Wife of long time Hen Island resident Nathan Barotz, Dr. Barotz is a mother of two.

After positive test results for West Nile virus on Hen Island in 2012, Dr. Barotz refused to allow her children to spend their summers on the Island. Dr. Barotz has since written multiple letters of concern to the Rye City Council, and on two occasions appeared in person to plead her case for remediation of the health and safety issues.

Dr. Carolyn Lederman-Barotz practices pediatric ophthalmology and is affiliated with Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Lederman-Barotz attended medical school at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
